ECLECTIC BEDROOM STYLING

ECLECTIC BEDROOM STYLING - FEATURED IN THE JANUARY ISSUE OF COSMOPOLITAN.

Go with a theme or colour pallet to tie quirky objects and images together. For a softening yet exotic effect, play with nature by presenting dramatic foliage in clear glass vases or jars. For this shoot, I used some cuttings from a philodendron. I like the big glossy leaves and the simplicity of them - and they last for weeks.

Try and keep a balance between old and new items. Too many new things can create a lack of warmth, and too many old things can start to look like Nana's bedroom. Repurposing is a great way to give old items new life and to make them feel brand new.

Fill your walls with the things you love, It doesn't have to be expensive art, the pictures and objects that evoke memories and make you smile and dream are always the best ones. Think outside the box - it doesn't have to be flat - add texture or objects to give your walls depth.

And finally, bedrooms are for dreaming and relaxation. Keep it sensual and playful. Light candles or drape some soft fabric over your bed for the ultimate escape from reality.
